Palestinian sources reported Tuesday that a 15-year old Palestinian youth was shot to death by IDF soldiers in the southern Gaza Strip.
The report follows a tense four days after exchanges of fire killed two Israeli soldiers in Gaza on Friday.
IDF officials said in response that on Tuesday morning a few dozen Palestinians had held a protest near the border fence in two separate areas, and that in one of the areas the soldiers stationed there asked them to leave but were met with refusal.
The army said the soldiers had fired towards the protestors' legs, but that they knew nothing of a death or injury that had occurred as a result.
Palestinian sources said the youth, who had gone missing in the morning, was found dead near the
border fence between Israel and Gaza near the site of the defunct Dahaniyah Airport. He was taken to the hospital in Rafah, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The sources estimate that the youth had neared the border fence and was apparently attempting to enter Israel when he was shot.
