Lebanon's Druze leader meets with Syrian president
Syrian President Bashar Assad met Wednesday with Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt, the official Syrian news agency reported.
Jumblatt, who is considered a strong opposer of Damascus and Hezbollah, recently said he wanted to "open a new chapter" in his relations with Syria. In 2005, he accused Syria of assassinating former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and his father, Druze leader Kamal Jumblatt, who was killed in 1977. (AFP)
