Peres calls Barzilai emergency room relocation 'scandalous'

President Shimon Peres addressed the issue of the relocation of Barzilai Medical Center's emergency room, calling it a "scandal." In a meeting with Israel's Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Amar, Peres added, "This is the only hospital in the area, and the southernmost on the western side of the Negev. I see it is as very important to bolster it."
Peres made these statements on the backdrop of the cabinet decision to relocate the Ashkelon hospital's emergency room to an alternate site after graves that are thousands of years old were discovered on the spot. (Ronen Medzini)
