Barak decides not to extend chief of staff's tenure

Defense Minister Ehud Barak decided not to extend the tenure of Chief of Staff Major-General Gabi Ashkenazi, who is due to complete his term in February 2011. Barak also said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed with the decision.
The defense minister is to begin the process of appointing a successor in the coming months. (Hanan Greenberg)
