Vilnai: Ashkenazi 'excellent' chief of staff

Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai (Labor) supported Defense Minister Ehud Barak's decision not to extend Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi's term.
"The decision was taken in keeping with regulations, as has been done in the past," he said during a tour of Tel Aviv. "The chief of staff is excellent, and I am sure that whoever takes over when Ashkenazi's term comes to an end will also be excellent." (Hanan Greenberg)
