Polish acting president to announce poll date soon
Acting President Bronislaw Komorowski said on Saturday he would announce the date of Poland's presidential election after talks with all political parties following the death of President Lech Kaczynski. "It's my duty to announce the date of the presidential election within another 14 days and the elections must take place within 60 days of that announcement," Komorowski said in a televised address to the Polish people.
"I will do that after consultations with all political groups (in parliament)," said Komorowski, who took over after Kaczynski died along with dozens of other top Polish officials in a plane crash earlier on Saturday in Russia. (Reuters)
