A rights group says Kuwaiti forces have arrested and deported supporters of the prominent Egyptian opposition figure Mohammed ElBaradei. Sarah Leah Whitson of New York-based Human Rights Watch said Sunday that so far, 21 Egyptian residents of Kuwait have been deported.
Some were seized after they attended a meeting in support of ElBaradei on April 8. Others were detained the following day during a meeting to discuss the arrests. The group quoted Kuwait's Interior Minister Sheik Jaber al-Khaled al-Sabah as saying the Egyptians defied a ban on foreigners assembling without permission. (AP)
