Har Bracha yeshiva to turn into kollel
Har Bracha yeshiva announced it will not try to reach a new arrangement with the IDF, and will instead turn into a kollel (an institute for full-time, advanced study of the Talmud and rabbinic literature), which will require its student to reject military service.
The yeshiva stated it will assist students who wish to remain in the Hesder program register with other yeshivas. In December, Defense Minister Ehud Barak decided to cancel the military's arrangement with Har Bracha yeshiva, after its head Rabbi Eliezer Melamed refused to condemn insubordination acts perpetrated by its students.
