Thieves caught red-handed pillaging archaeological site
Antiques Authority inspectors caught a number of thieves red-handed as they attempted to rob an archaeological site near Beit Shemesh.
The thieves, Bedouins from Rahat, were digging into the earth and damaging the site because of an old Bedouin myth about Turkish treasure buried there. The authority said irreparable damage had been caused. (Shmulik Grossman)
