Industry, Labor, and Trade Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, who served as defense minister when Hamas leader Salah Shehade was assassinated in 2002, praised the Spanish Supreme Court's decision to close the case against him and other senior Israeli officials.

Ben-Eliezer also thanked the Israel's foreign and justice ministries for their efforts, as well as the Spanish government. "Common sense won out. The State of Israel will continue to defend the right to life of its citizens and will continue to pursue while incurring minimum damage to innocent civilians." (Roni Sofer)
