PA minister: Israel responsible for death of prisoner

Palestinian Minister of Prisoner Affairs Issa Qaraqi said Israel was responsible for the death of a Palestinian prisoner in the Eshel prison in the Negev of Friday. Qaraqi said Saturday that Israel is hard on the prisoners, particularly those in solitary confinement, and that the Israeli policies hide the prisoners' distress.
Saturday marked Prisoner Day in the Palestinian Authority. The prisoner was found dead in his cell on Friday, and the Israel Prison Service said it was examining the cause of his death. (Ali Waked)
