Barak: Thousands of soldiers are price paid for our sovereignty

Defense Minister Ehud Barak spoke at a memorial ceremony that took place in Kiryat Shaul's military cemetery.
"The 22,684 fallen soldiers are the necessary price for Israel's sovereignty in this generation," he said. "The State of Israel is not handed over on a silver platter, and freedom is granted only to those willing to fight for it. The battle to be a liberated people on our land is the fate of our generation. Israel is strong and deterring, prepared for any enemy near or far, and is prepared to reach out for peace out of strength." (Attila Somfalvi)
