IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi thanked President Shimon Peres during a ceremony for outstanding soldiers for hosting the event and supporting the army.
"We send a warm loving hug to all the bereaved families, we wish the best of health to our wounded and will keep on working to return our captive soldiers. It is a great privilege to command over you, I am very proud of you," Ashkenazi said. (Ronen Medzini)
