A NASA Boeing 747 carrying a huge German-made infrared telescope is on the verge of scanning the skies for the first time after years of development.
Project officials showed off the world's largest airborne observatory Tuesday in a NASA hangar in Southern California's high desert, where it has been undergoing flight testing. (AP)
