Peres: Bring to Israel former USSR Jews who went to Germany, US
President Shimon Peres held an event to mark 20 years of aliyah (immigration) from the former Soviet Union, and said, "I came here today to express, in the name of the entire nation, the respect you deserve, and also to say that another role awaits you."
"Half a million Jews who left Russia went to Germany and the United States," the president continued. "They need to continue their journey and come to Israel. Let us call on them together, to come to Israel, which is flourishing and will flourish even more with them." (Ynet)
