Belgian parliament votes to ban wearing of veil

Belgium's lower house of parliament voted on Thursday in favor of a draft law to criminalize wearing the full Islamic face veil in public, a move that could make Belgium the first country to enforce such a ban.

The bill to ban such clothing is likely to become law in June or July as the upper house, or Senate, is not expected to block it. (Reuters)
