Myanmar junta leader warns of election disruptions

Myanmar's junta chief on Saturday warned people to be vigilant against "saboteurs and aliens" trying to disrupt elections the ruling regime says will put the country on the road to democracy.

The elections planned this year have been criticized as a sham designed to give the junta a democratic veneer though the military leaders show little sign of relinquishing control. New election laws prevent opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi from taking part, and her party is boycotting the polls. (AP)
