Kurdish militants kill Turkish soldier in attack

 Kurdish guerrillas killed one Turkish soldier and injured another in an attack in southeast Turkey overnight, security sources said on Sunday.

Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) rebels armed with rifles launched the assault near a military command post at Lice in the province of Diyarbakir, killing a lieutenant. The firefight came 24 hours after another PKK attack on a military station in the eastern province of Tunceli, killing four soldiers and injuring seven in what marked an escalation in conflict in the region.
