Head of the Jordan Valley Regional Council David Elhayani said in response to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' demand that the Jordan Valley be transferred to Palestinian control as part of a final-status agreement that he and the leaders in the area trust the prime minister "not to hand over any part of the valley."
"This is the State of Israel's security belt. Rabin also noted this. He, too, understood that the Jordan Valley must be the country's eastern border. Giving up on us will bring Hezbollah to Judea and Samaria," he said. (Shmulik Grossman)
