Prosecution mulling Olmert indictment in political appointments case

None

The prosecution announced that it is considering prosecuting former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Oved Yehezkel in the political appointments affair, pending a hearing.

Initial suspicions focused on political appointments made by Olmert in the Small and Medium Enterprise Authority during his tenure as industry, trade and labor minister. However, during the investigation, which was launched in October, 2007, it became clear that the case' spans much further, and includes some 260 appointments or benefits Olmert is allegedly responsible for in various public bodies he oversaw as minister.
