IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said the army's strength lay "mainly in its reserve lineup".
Speaking at an event honoring reserve soldiers he added that their service should not interfere with studies or work. "Every man who comes of age understands the importance of this service," he said. "Society must recognize the importance of the service and its contribution." (Attila Somfalvi)
