Lithuania's first gay pride march draws protests

Opponents of Lithuania's first gay pride parade threw smoke bombs and tried to break through a barrier Saturday as the event began amid a strong police presence. Police dispersed them with tear gas.

The two smoke bombs landed some 200 meters away from parade participants, among whom are many diplomats and members of the European Parliament. About 400 people are participating in the rally in a sealed-off park in downtown Vilnius. (AP)
