PLO Official: Approval of talks based on American guarantees

Secretary-general of the Palestinian Liberation Organization's Executive Committee Yasser Abed Rabbo said that the decision to approve the proximity talks with Israel was "mainly based on promises and guarantees given by the Americans to the Palestinian side."
According to Rabbo, the Americans promised to discuss all matters relating to a permanent arrangement during the talks. Rabbo added that the US "made clear that they will take an adamant stance towards Israel in case it tries to foil negotiations." (Ali Waked)
