President Shimon Peres asked Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to pass on a message to Syrian President Bashar Assad that "Israel is not interested in escalation on the border, and war is the last thing we want."
"We stretch our hand out to peace with Syria, but peace cannot happen without basic conditions. You cannot outstretch your hand to peace, while continuing to support terror nests. Israel has no other interpretation for the transfer of weaponry from Syria to Hezbollah. Transfer of long-range precision missiles to the organization is an incitement to war," said Peres.
