Rights group slams arrest of Arab figures by Shin Bet
Adalah – The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, protested the arrest of Ameer Makhoul and Omar Said, who are suspected of contacting a Hezbollah agent.
The group claimed that the charges against the two have been exaggerated in order to justify the comprehensive gag order placed on the case until Monday. "The charge of 'contacting an enemy agent' is a generic offense that the Shin Bet can use to frame any Arab who upholds legitimate contacts with social or political activists in the Arab world," said the group's statement.
