Turkish opposition leader resigns over sex scandal

The leader of Turkey's secular main opposition party resigned as chairman over a sex scandal on Monday, days after a secretly taped video circulating on the Internet allegedly showed he was having an affair with a lawmaker.
Deniz Baykal, an ardent critic of the Islamic-oriented government's policies, told reporters he was resigning and that he was the victim of a political plot by the government. (AP)
