Knesset speaker: We have let Jerusalem down
Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin said during a speech in honor of the 43rd Jerusalem Day that Jerusalem had been "let down".
"We have let it down by writing checks that were never cashed; 40 years later the city has not been unified, 43 years later there is doubt if Jerusalem is Israel's capital in the present," he said. "How can it be a source of inspiration while suffering from discrimination between the Jewish and Arab sectors? It doesn't need prophets declaring its destruction, but people willing to build bridges between Jerusalem of above and below." (Amnon Meranda)
