Ex-UK foreign minister bids for Labour leadership

Former Foreign Minister David Miliband on Wednesday announced his bid for the leadership of Britain's opposition Labour Party.

 

The party and its 59-year-old leader Gordon Brown were kicked out of office following a general election that handed power to a coalition government led by the right-leaning Conservatives. Miliband said Wednesday that there would now be a contest for Labour leader and "I will be a candidate in that election. (AP)
