Regional police say Afghan, allied and NATO special forces killed more than three dozen insurgent fighters in separate overnight operations in northern and eastern Afghanistan.
Two regional police officials say NATO special forces in three helicopters swarmed in on insurgents who had attacked a volunteer security force in the Zar Khrid area near the northern town of Kunduz. The officials say 31 insurgents were killed. (AP)
