President's Residence: Israel ready for peace, not under threats
The President's Residence responded to reports that Shimon Peres offered to withdraw from the Golan Heights in exchange for Syria cutting its ties with Iran, saying that "Peres relayed a clear message to (Syrian President Bashar) Assad that Israel is ready for immediate peace talks with the Syrians."
The President's Residence added, however, that "Israel will let have Syria have it both ways – demand withdrawal from the Golan Heights and place Iranian missiles on the northern border while continuing to support terror. Israel is not ready for peace talks under threats." (Roni Sofer)
