An Israeli woman was killed in a bicycle accident in Italy Monday. Sigalit Malka-Cohen, 38, was taking part in a spinning and cycling competition when she collided with a tree and fell into a gulch.
Malka-Cohen, a resident of Shoham, left behind a husband and two children, aged four and 12.
Her cousin, Yoav Haliwa, told Ynet that Malka-Cohen had spoken with her husband on the phone just hours before the crash. "But at 8 pm officers were already knocking on the door to tell him whathappened," he said. "She was just competing in an amateur competition."
Haliwa said his cousin's body was being brought to Israel for burial. He added that members of the group she had gone with had visited the family in order to express their condolences.
