Germany urges Syria to support Mideast peace talks

Germany's foreign minister has urged Syria to support indirect talks between Israel and the Palestinians in return for economic support for its reforms.

Guido Westerwelle said Sunday the indirect talks were an "opportunity" to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and called on Damascus to back the negotiations. He offered support for Syrian economic reforms and partnership with the European Union. (AP)
