Steinitz: Flawed intra-party activity 'threat to democracy'
Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said the main threat to democracy in Israel is the defective intra-party activities in all parties, the inability to ensure the existence of voters' organizations, and the maintenance of the primaries system free of manipulation.
In a speech at the Israel Democracy Institute, Steinitz said the second threat facing democracy is the strength of organized crime and the danger that it will reach the "point of no return." The third threat, he said, was the deterioration in norms of respect for truth and evenhandedness in Israeli media. (Ynet)
