Turkey calls protest in front of embassy 'provocation'

Turkey recently issued a formal complaint with the Israeli Ambassador to Turkey Gabi Levy against the mass protest of Israeli citizens held outside the Turkish embassy in Tel Aviv. Amb. Levy was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Ankara.

Levy was told that the protest was "an incomprehensible and unacceptable provocation" because the casualties on the flotilla were Turkish citizens. Levy responded that licensed protests are acceptable in a democratic society, and mentioned the protest that Turkish citizens held in front of his residence last week. (Roni Sofer)
