Guard who accidentally killed friend gets 3 years
Haifa Regional Court handed down a sentence of three years behind bars for the security guard Ilya Armetayev (23) from Kiryat Haim, who accidentally killed his friend IDF soldier Victor Shvardin while playing with weapons in January.
The court accepted the settlement reached between the prosecution and defendant, and in addition ruled that Armetayev should pay compensation of NIS 75,000 ($19,500) to Armetayev's widow and NIS 30,000 ($7,700) to each of his three children, the youngest of which was born after Shvardin's death.
