State Dept. spokesman: BP oil spill won't hurt US-British ties

The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is a matter between the United States and a private company and will not hurt US relations with the British government, a US State Department spokesman said on Thursday.

"This is not about the relationship between the United States and its closest ally," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters. (Reuters)
