European diplomat: EU to expand sanctions on Iran

The European Union's foreign ministers reached an agreement on expanding sanctions against Iran beyond those approved by the United Nations Security Council last week, a European diplomat said.
According to the diplomat, the EU is considering placing sanctions on the Islamic Republic's oil and gas sectors, as well as on new investments in Iran. The draft now requires the approval of the leaders of the EU states. (AFP)
