Investigating committee: Failures in handling Gaza evacuees
None
The final report of the committee investigating the handling of Jewish settlers evacuated from the Gaza Strip determined that the State has failed in its treatment of the approximately 9,000 people from 26 settlements that were evacuated.
"The results reveal a very poor picture," according to the report. Most of those evacuated are still living in temporary caravans, and the construction of most permanent homes has still not begun. The report also noted that the rate of unemployment among the evacuees was double that in the general population and that many of them require welfare assistance. (Aviad Glickman)
