Israel lauds HRC condemnation of Iran

Israel praised a declaration by the Human Rights Council in Geneva which condemns Iran's violation of human rights in what it called a cruel oppression of citizens by the Tehran regime.
"The declaration today is an additional expression of the frustration enlightened states in the world feel towards Iran, and in light of the Security Council's decision last week to impose sanctions also reflects the international community's impatience with the character of the Iranian regime. Israel sees it as a step in the right direction and awaits other steps to follow," a Foreign Ministry statement said. (Roni Sofer)
