An indictment was filed Wednesday with the Tel Aviv District Court against a 17-year-old Palestinian boy from a village adjacent to Nablus who is charged with murdering 66-year-old Hanania Elharar together with his friend.
The two resided in Elharar's apartment in Tel Aviv and had sexual relations with him. The defendant's friend has yet to be apprehended.
According to the indictment, the teen stabbed Elharar seven times while he slept, two months ago.
The victim resided in the old central bus station area in Tel Aviv and had invited the defendant and a second individual to stay with him.
After moving in with him, the defendant noticed that Elharar kept money in his closet and allegedly decided together with his friend to murder him and take the money.
It is claimed that in one of the days the two shut the apartment's windows and proceeded to stab the victim in various parts of his body.
It is also claimed that following the murder, the two took the money, NIS 1,500 (roughly $392), split it, and left the flat.
The teen is being charged with murder, illegal stay in Israel and conspiracy to commit murder.
The prosecution has motioned to extend his remand until legal proceedings against him are completed.
