Lebanese Maronite patriarch: Hezbollah has private army

Lebanon's Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Nasrallah Butrus Safir said Thursday that Hezbollah has its own private army and is being armed with weapons and funds by its neighbors.
After meeting in Paris with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner Safir said, "We have ties with Iran as well as the group called Hezbollah, which has its unique view. Lebanon will carry on in its path despite the difficulties it faces. We are working towards better relations with our neighbors, especially with Syria, however there is no stability and these ties have witnessed ups and downs." (Roee Nahmias)
