NY suburb settles suit over Jews' 'Shabbos House'

None

A New York village has settled a federal lawsuit and will allow Orthodox Jews to gather at a house near a hospital so they can visit patients on the Sabbath without breaking their religious law against driving.

The village of Suffern, New York, had denied a variance for the use of the residence as a "Shabbos House." Under the settlement, it will allow up to 14 people to stay at what had been a single-family home. (AP)
