Israeli, Indian high-tech industries to collaborate
Leaders of three Indian associations arrived in Israel to sign agreement, attend annual High-tech Industry Association conference in Jerusalem. 'The agreement will provide the foundation for significant collaboration between two leading industries which complement one another,' says HTIA chairman
The leaders of the Indian associations arrived in Israel to attend the annual HTIA conference in Jerusalem. The signing ceremony if the agreement was held in the conference during the special session devoted to business opportunities in India. The ceremony was attended by the Indian ambassador, Mr. Navtej Sarna, the commercial attaché of the Indian Embassy in Israel, Mr. Sanjay Vyas, second sectary of economics and commerce.
Ambassador Navtej Sarna said, “I would like to congratulate both the Indian and Israeli High Tech Industry for taking a major step to move their cooperation to a new level. This cooperation in hi-tech is an example of how complementarities can be maximized, how the tremendous growth of India’s IT and telecom and the immense innovation of Israeli hi-tech industry can be advantageous to the people of both countries. It’s a win-win situation.”
The agreements are designed to create a framework for collaboration in order to reinforce high tech businesses in both countries, invigorate the innovation and entrepreneurship and promote joint high tech projects. The agreement also opens new business opportunities to members of the respective associations. The Indian associations are planning to hold professional conferences and seminars and to initiate delegation visits in order to establish a network of professional ties to help leverage the opportunities in each one of the markets.
Aaron Mankovski, HTIA chairman who signed the agreement on behalf of the HTIA with Oded Hermoni, the new general-director of HTIA, commented, "The agreement signed today provides a significant foundation for collaboration between two leading industries which complement one another: India's high tech industry, a global, fast growing center of services and R&D and Israel's high tech industry with its characteristic innovation and entrepreneurial spirit."
Mankovski added, "The agreements open new opportunities for HTIA members in India and provide them with access to a network of ties, which is the main way of doing business in India."
David Keynan, CEO of BDO-I2I, a member of HTIA, was the man behind the initiative for the collaboration between India's three leading association and the HTIA.
Keynan, a member of the TIE in India and the first Israeli invited to address the participants of the ISA conference, said, "We are witnessing a momentum in the business relations between Israel and India, mostly in joint ventures and mergers." Keynan added, "We are convinced the collaboration agreements signed today by the four organizations will facilitate it further for Israeli and Indian bodies to fulfill the huge potential of the combined forces of the industries, both in door opening and knowledge and infrastructure sharing.
Well-developed high-tech industries
India's telecom manufacturers association (TEMA) is the central Indian association for telecom infrastructure development and a central regulatory body. The contacts with TEMA will help Israeli companies to promote communication standards which so far have been impossible.The TIE is a global network of Indian entrepreneurs. Founded in the USA, TIE currently has chapters in India too. It serves as a platform for collaboration between Indian entrepreneurs and other companies. Amobee, developer of cellular advertising platforms and HTIA member, is one Israeli company which has strong ties with the TIE. The initiative for the agreement with TIE Mumbai and Delhi on the Indian side came from Menak Singa, executive director in TIE's Mumbai chapter.
The third agreement with India's chip association (ISA) was signed by Pradeet Dutta, deputy ISA chairman and CEO of Synopsys India, who came to Israel with the Indian delegation to identify possible collaborations in the chip market.
Both Israel and India have a well-developed high-tech industry. India's high-tech industry is younger, but has evolved into a global service and R&D center for local and international technology companies. In addition, over the last five years, India developed a domestic technology market which is expected to continue growing over the coming decade.
By comparison, Israel's high-tech industry is well-established with international and local companies. Innovation is the main feature of the Israeli industry with young and start-up companies accounting for about half the industry.
