North Korea's struggling economy shrank in 2009 due to poor harvests and international sanctions imposed for its nuclear test, erasing some of the rare growth of the previous year, South Korea's central bank said on Thursday.
The isolated state's economy last year, in terms of its gross national income, was 28.6 trillion South Korean won ($24.1 billion), less than 3 percent of South Korea's, with its per capita income of about 1.2 million won, barely 5 percent of its capitalist neighbor's. (Reuters)
