Palestinians, leftists hurl stones in anti-fence protest

Forty Palestinians and left-wing activists held a protest near the separation fence in Beit Jala, north of Bethlehem on Sunday. The protesters hurled stones at soldiers, who responded using tear gas and shock grenades.

The site was declared a closed military zone. Two left-wing activists and two foreign protestors were arrested and turned over for questioning. (Shmulik Grossman)
