Red Cross asked to help Jewish, Arab council heads visit Shalit

Shlomo Buchbut, Chairman of the Union of Local Authorities and Ma'alot-Tarshiha Mayor has asked the Red Cross to assist Jewish and Arab council heads to visit kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit.
"Unfortunately, Israeli governments' attempts to release Shalit were fruitless. We are certain that a civil, humanitarian visit participated by Jews and Arabs may cause a breakthrough in improving the humanitarian situation in the entire region," Buchbut noted and added that he updated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the plan.
