Egypt buffs up security along gas pipeline to Israel

Egyptian police have tightened security in Sinai along a pipeline transporting natural gas to Israel, after the Bedouin wanted by the authorities have threatened to sabotage it, security personnel said Monday.
Clashes have pitted a group of Bedouins, consisting of at least a dozen armed fugitives, against police since February. At that time their leader, Salim Lafi, had fled a prison van during an ambush that killed an officer. (AFP)
