General David Howell Petraeus said that US soldiers are being killed at a more rapid rate in Afghanistan, while Taliban fighters are absorbing extensive losses, but managing to adapt themselves to NATO tactics.
Petraeus spoke during a Senate Committee hearing leading up to his appointment as commander of the fighting in Afghanistan. Petraeus will replace General Stanley McCrystal who was relieved of his position last week after he criticized the Washington government in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
