Police have arrested three leaders of Bangladesh's largest opposition Islamic party on contempt charges after they failed to appear in court to answer allegations of blaspheming Islam.
Matiur Rahman Nizami, head of Jamaat-e-Islami, and two other senior officials of the party were detained in the capital Dhaka late Tuesday, said Dhaka Police Commissioner A.K.M. Shahidul Haque. He said the three - Nizami, Ali Ahsan Mujahid and Delwar Hossain Saidee - will be taken to court later Wednesday. (AP)
