Iran: Death sentence for 2 who caused prisoners' deaths
None
An Iranian military court has sentenced two to death for causing the deaths of three prisoners, all members of the opposition, in a Tehran jail. The identities of the two and of nine others sentenced to jail in the same affair have not been released.
After the disputed presidential elections, the opposition claimed that prisoners were raped and abused in Kahrizak prison, and that three had died in custody. The government initially denied the allegations but later the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered the prison to be closed. (Dudi Cohen)
